Pargat Singh’s TVA on Sukhbir Badal

After cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu’s exit from the BJP to join AAP, it is now the turn of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) in Punjab to suffer a blow.
Sources within the party have told India Today that former India Hockey Captain Pargat Singh, an MLA from the Akali Dal, is all set to join the Aam Aadmi Party. This move is expected to further strengthen the AAP in Punjab which is upbeat and is gaining ground on its rivals ahead of the upcoming state assembly elections in Punjab.
Sources indicated that Pargat Singh could join the party within a month. He has been in touch with the Punjab AAP leaders for the last few months and now negotiations have reached the final round. Pargat has been openly defying his party’s stand and is being seen as taking on deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal.
The murmurs of Pargat, along with few other MLAs of Akali Dal, exiting the party gained momentum after he was recently suspended by Punjab’s ruling Shiromani Akali Dal for anti-party activities.
