Woman Falls To Death On Railway Track At Mumbai Kurla Station

The 24-year-old victim was waiting for the train at Kurla station’s platform number one when the 19-year-old accused targeted her on Tuesday night.A 24-year-old woman lost her balance and was crushed under a train after a 19-year-old chain snatcher targeted her at Kurla Railway Station’s platform number one around 8 pm Tuesday.

The victim, Sapna Shukla, had arrived in the city less than two years ago after landing a job with HDFC life. She resided in a flat in Ghatkopar that she shared with three others.The accused, Rafi Bairagi Charan Malik, who was arrested from the station premises, told the police that he tried to snatch the victim’s chain as he desperately needed money to return to his village in Orissa. He had arrived in the city in search of work only last month.The railway police said that Malik has been booked under the Indian Penal Code sections 304 for culpable homicide not amount to murder, and 393 for attempted robbery.
